Natratex and Colourtex are based on tried and tested asphalt technology but utilize a unique clear binder system and high performance decorative aggregates to achieve naturally coloured or pigment enhanced finishes.

Natratex and Colourtex achieving similar performance properties to asphalt and can be used for new construction or for overlays on site refurbishments. Both product ranges are aesthetic, environmentally safe, substantive and durable, forming part of the structural layer of the pavement design.

Supplied through a network of recommended surfacing contractors, Natratex and Colourtex can be installed throughout the year as an alternative to block paving, asphalt, surface dressings or cold applied epoxy finishes. *See below for Important Information regarding these products.

As with conventional asphalts and macadams, Bituchem Asphalt's product range must be laid on a suitable, sound base to ensure the finished surface has the required design specifications. Our products are supplied hot and should be spread and rolled to a finished thickness relevant to the size of aggregate used. The table below is intended to be used as a rough guide only:

*IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS IN THE USE OF NATURATEX, COLOURTEX

1. ALL THE EQUIPMENT TO BE USED IN THE LAYING OF THE MATERIAL IS TO BE CLEAN.
2. COMPACTION OF THE SURFACE BY A TANDEM ROLLER SHOULD BE DONE IMMEDIATELY UPON SPREADING THE MATERIAL.
3. THERE SHOULD BE A SUITABLE EDGING CAPABLE OF WITHSTANDING CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT.
4. ALL SCHEMES ARE TO BE COMPLETED IN AS LEAST AS POSSIBLE VISITS TO PREVENT PROBABLE VARIATIONS IN APPEARANCE.
5. THE MINIMUM AIR TEMPERATURE IS TO BE 5 DEGREES C BEFORE LAYING.
6. KEEP CONSTRUCTION TRAFFIC OFF THE NEW MATERIAL ONCE IT HAS BEEN COMPACTED.
7. NATURATEX/COLOURTEX SHOULD BE LAID TO A DEPTH OF 20-25MM FOR FOOT TRAFFIC AND 30MM FOR ROAD TRAFFIC.
8. ALL MATERIALS SHOULD BE KEPT ABOVE 110 DEGREES C TO ENSURE PROPER COMPACTION.
9. IT IS IMPORTANT THE LEVELS OF THE BASECOURSE ARE CORRECT AS THE NATURATEX WILL FOLLOW THE CONTOURS OF THE BASECOURSE.
10. A BITUCHEM EMULSION SHOULD BE USED BETWEEN THE BASCOURSE AND THE NATURATEX.
11. CLEAR HOT JOINT PAINT SHOULD BE USED TO SEAL ALL JOINTS.
12. DO NOT USE DIESEL OR SIMILAR TO CLEAN EQUIPMENT AS THIS
WILL GIVE A WHITE APPEARANCE ON THE MATERIAL.
13. DO NOT PUT AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF WATER ON THE FRESH MATERIAL, AS THIS WILL CAUSE FOAMING.
14. SPREAD RATES SIMILAR TO BITUMINOUS MACADAMS.

30MM – 14M2/TONNE
15. IF THE MATERIAL IS TO BE LAID BY MACHINE. LAY THE MATERIAL IN THE SAME DIRECTION AT ALL TIMES.
