Bond Coating Products

Depending on the application Bituchem produce a range of emulsions suitable for bond coating, each having different properties for different purposes:

- Polybond: (Polymer Modified Emulsion)

Polybond is a high binder polymer modified emulsion. The Vialit pendulum cohesion results conform to a polymer surface dressing emulsion. Polybond can be supplied with a binder content of 40%, 50% or 65%. Due to the high binder content Polybond 65 (65% binder content) can be used on vertical joints.

Polybond is a stronger adhesive bond between bituminous layers than traditional tack coat with the added benefit of ‘pick-up’ prevention at ambient temperatures due to a harder grade of bitumen.

- K1-40: (40% Bitumen content)

Ideal for concrete curing, mist spraying, tack coating

- K1-60: (60% Bitumen content)

Ideal for Grouting, patching, sealing, formation and sub-base, surface dressing. 

Application and Preparation

Bituchem’s Bond Coatings are user friendly as they can be cold applied. Like surface dressing emulsions, application of bond coating is highly weather dependant. The surface for treatment must be free from standing water before and during application and the environment must be frost free during application and during the drying period.

Other preparation includes ensuring surfaces are free from dust, dirt, oil, grease, fuel, mud, leaves/foliage etc.

Bituchem’s Bond Coating Packaging and Supply

Bituchem supply the K1-40 and K1-60 Bond Coatings in various quantities including Metric Tonnes, 200Kg Barrels and 25Kg drums so the size of the application area will determine the type of packaging required.
Polybond is supplied similarly in bulk, 200Kg barrels, and in 25Kg containers.

There are various builders merchants that are stockists for the 200Kg Barrels and 25Kg Drums. Alternatively Bituchem sell the products direct from the Plant in Cinderford.
